It’s been a while since my last post! Things have been a bit crazy around here and there hasn’t been as much time for blogging. On the personal side, we just signed on a new house and are getting ours on the market this week. We have a big kindergartener, preschooler and little James is getting around (and into everything) so things at home have gotten a lot busier as well. Last year was my busiest yet and while I’m extremely thankful, I have realized that I need to cut back. I ADORE my job and my clients and while know I’m a workaholic; it’s come to a point of just not being able to do it all and still be the mom and wife I strive to be. The kids will only be this age once, and it’s something I can never get back.
I’ve struggled a bit with writing this because I want to be sure my clients understand how important they are to me. But I would rather serve a limited amount of clients well, then stretch myself too thin and not give each and every one my best. So starting in January, I’ve limited my sessions to half of what I typically do per month. What does this mean for you? If you’re on the Watch Me Grow plan, I have your spots already saved. I will be doing mini sessions in the Spring and Fall for those that don’t need full sessions. The other impact is just that I will likely book up further in advance. June, Sept and October are my busiest months and they typically book up 2-3 months ahead.
This decision did not come easily, it’s the result of many late nights of talking and soul searching about our family, our long term goals and what is most important to us. Many people probably don’t know but I also do consulting work in my old field so balancing that, being a mom, and the photography business has always been a bit of a challenge. I’m very excited about the days ahead where I have time to build fairy houses, go on hikes, and have a lazy weekend (until they’re all in sports and they no longer exist).
I hope you are all surviving this snowy winter and kiss all those little ones goodnight. They are the most precious of all.
